"My photography is less about beauty than it is about experience. Probably the biggest overall idea in my work has to do with how humans experience their daily lives. What kind of perspective do we have on the world, and what kind of identity can we maintain?
I spent almost 10 years living in Europe in the cities of Geneva and Paris. This experience made me very aware of what it feels like to learn about new surroundings, and to be constantly learning about a new culture. The interactions between people are what makes up a society. If one feels out of place in a society however, then these interactions are lost and what is perceived is only a series of possible regards."
Architecture in the urban setting is strongly influenced by the motifs found in nature. In fact, "man-made" structures can be thought of as natural occurrences since humans are simply participating in an evolutionary process.
The same forces that create structure in the non-man-made world are at play when man conceives and creates structures. The result is that the structures are intrinsically related. Furthermore, man repeats the motifs found in nature in an attempt to assert his influence over these same forces that are driving him.
Trees grow tall for light, towers grow for sight (might?)
Both attempt to exercise power over their environment.
